Measuring for drapes for a patio door can be a bit more challenging than other windows in your home, because the door needs to be able to open and close freely. You’ll need to take into account the width of the door, the height of the door, and the length of the curtains you want. Here are the steps on how to measure drapes for patio door:

1. Determine the width of the door

The width of the door is the distance from the left edge of the door frame to the right edge of the door frame. Measure this distance from the inside of the frame.

2. Determine the height of the door

The height of the door is the distance from the top of the door frame to the bottom of the door frame. Measure this distance from the inside of the frame.

3. Determine the length of the curtains

The length of the curtains is the distance from the top of the curtain to the bottom of the curtain. You can choose any length you want, but the most popular lengths are floor-length, puddle-length, and sill-length. Floor-length curtains reach the floor, puddle-length curtains are a few inches longer than the floor, and sill-length curtains fall just below the window sill.

4. Add extra width and length

Once you have determined the width and height of the door and the length of the curtains, you need to add extra width and length to allow for fullness and movement. 5. Measure the curtain rod

The curtain rod is what the curtains will hang from. You need to measure the distance from the top of the door frame to where you want the curtain rod to be placed. This is usually about 6 inches above the top of the door frame.
