How To Install Patio Screen Door

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Prepare the Doorway: Remove the existing door or screen door, if applicable. Clean the doorway and make sure it is square and level. Repair any damaged areas or trim the opening to fit the new screen door.

2. Install the Header: Place the header (top piece) of the screen door frame over the doorway and center it. Use a level to ensure it is level and use screws to attach it to the door frame.

3. Install the Jambs: Attach the jambs (side pieces) to the header by sliding them into place and securing them with screws. Ensure the jambs are plumb (vertical) and level.

4. Install the Threshold: Place the threshold (bottom piece) into the bottom groove of the jambs and secure it with screws. The threshold should slope slightly outward to prevent water from entering the doorway.

5. Install the Screen Panel: Lift the screen panel into place and insert it into the grooves on the inside of the frame. Use a screwdriver or drill to secure the screen panel to the frame.

6. Install the Closer: Attach the door closer to the top of the door frame and the door jamb. The closer will help to automatically close the door when it is opened.

7. Caulk the Doorway: Apply a bead of exterior caulk around the perimeter of the door frame to seal any gaps and prevent water from entering.

8. Install the Handle and Lockset: Install the handle and lockset according to the manufacturer's instructions.

9. Adjust the Door: Make sure the door opens and closes smoothly. If necessary, adjust the strike plate or the position of the door in the frame to ensure proper alignment and operation.
