How To Fix Patio Screen

When you enjoy spending time in your outdoor living space, a torn or damaged patio screen can be a major nuisance. Not only does it compromise privacy, but it can also let in unwanted pests. Repairing a patio screen is a relatively easy and inexpensive project that can be completed in a few hours.

The first step is to gather the necessary materials. You will need:

A new piece of screen material
A spline tool or putty knife
A pair of scissors
A measuring tape
A hammer or nail gun
Screws or nails

Once you have gathered your materials, you can begin the repair process. Here are the steps on how to fix a patio screen:

Remove the damaged screen material. Start by removing the spline that holds the screen material in place. You can do this by using a spline tool or a flathead screwdriver. Once the spline is removed, you can carefully pull the screen material out of the frame.
Cut a new piece of screen material. Measure the frame of the screen and cut a new piece of screen material to size. The new screen material should be slightly larger than the frame so that it can be stretched and secured.
Install the new screen material. Stretch the new screen material over the frame and secure it with spline. Start by inserting the spline into the groove on the inside of the frame. Then, use a spline tool or a flathead screwdriver to push the spline into place. Be sure to stretch the screen material evenly so that it is taut but not too tight.
Trim the excess screen material. Once the screen material is secured, trim any excess material around the edges of the frame. You can use scissors for this step.
Reattach the frame. If the frame was removed from the patio door or window, reattach it now. Secure the frame with screws or nails.
