How To Adjust Andersen Patio Door
Andersen patio doors are a popular choice for homeowners because they are durable, energy-efficient, and stylish. However, like any other door, they may need to be adjusted from time to time. If your Andersen patio door is not opening or closing properly, or if there is a draft coming in around the edges, you can adjust it yourself with a few simple tools.
Here are the steps on how to adjust an Andersen patio door:
1. Identify the problem
The first step is to identify the problem with your patio door. Is it not opening or closing properly? Is there a draft coming in around the edges? Once you know what the problem is, you can start to troubleshoot it.
2. Gather your tools
You will need the following tools to adjust your Andersen patio door:
- A Phillips head screwdriver
- A flat head screwdriver
- A hex key
- A level
3. Adjust the hinges
If your patio door is not opening or closing properly, you may need to adjust the hinges. To do this, locate the hinges on the side of the door. There are two hinges on each side. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the screws on the hinges. Once the screws are loose, you can adjust the door up or down, or side to side. Once you have the door in the desired position, tighten the screws.
4. Adjust the strike plate
If there is a draft coming in around the edges of your patio door, you may need to adjust the strike plate. The strike plate is the metal plate that the door latch catches on. To adjust the strike plate, locate it on the door frame. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen the screws on the strike plate. Once the screws are loose, you can move the strike plate up or down, or side to side. Once you have the strike plate in the desired position, tighten the screws.
5. Level the door
Once you have adjusted the hinges and the strike plate, you should level the door. To do this, place a level on the bottom of the door. If the door is not level, you can adjust the hinges to level it. Once the door is level, tighten the screws on the hinges.
6. Test the door
Once you have made all of the adjustments, test the door to make sure it is opening and closing properly. If the door is still not working properly, you may need to call a professional.
