How To Replace Glass In Sliding Patio Door

Replacing the glass in a sliding patio door is a relatively simple project that can be completed in a few hours with the right tools and materials. Here are the steps on how to replace glass in a sliding patio door:

Gather your tools and materials.

You will need the following tools and materials to replace the glass in your sliding patio door:

New glass panel
Glazing tape
Silicone caulk
Putty knife
Utility knife
Tape measure
Level
Screwdriver

Remove the old glass panel.

Start by removing the screws that hold the glass panel in place. There will be two screws on each side of the panel.
Once the screws are removed, carefully lift the glass panel out of the frame.
Be sure to wear gloves when handling the glass panel, as it can be sharp.

Clean the frame.

Once the old glass panel is removed, clean the frame thoroughly with a damp cloth.
Remove any old glazing tape or caulk that may be present.

Apply glazing tape to the frame.

Cut a piece of glazing tape to the length of the frame and apply it to the inside of the frame.
Press the tape firmly into place.

Insert the new glass panel.
