How To Replace Patio Screen

Instructions

Remove the old screen. To do this, use a screwdriver or drill to remove the screws or nails that are holding the screen in place. Once the screws or nails are removed, carefully pull the screen away from the frame.
Clean the frame. Once the old screen is removed, use a damp cloth to clean the frame. This will remove any dirt or debris that may have accumulated on the frame.
Measure and cut the new screen. Use a measuring tape to measure the width and height of the frame. Add 1 inch to each measurement to allow for overlap. Cut the new screen material to the desired size using a utility knife.
Install the new screen. Place the new screen over the frame, making sure that the edges are aligned with the edges of the frame. Use a flat blade putty knife or paint scraper to tuck the edges of the screen into the spline groove.
Insert the spline. Cut a length of spline that is long enough to go around the entire perimeter of the frame. Insert the spline into the spline groove, using a flat blade putty knife or paint scraper to push the spline into place.
Trim the excess spline. Once the spline is in place, use a utility knife to trim any excess spline that is sticking out of the groove.

Tips

When measuring the new screen, be sure to add 1 inch to each measurement to allow for overlap. This will ensure that the screen is taut and secure.
When installing the new screen, be sure to tuck the edges of the screen into the spline groove carefully. This will help to prevent the screen from coming loose.
